Christmas Party - Holiday Lights at Temple Square

12-8-2009: Updated to add that the white elephant gift should be wrapped.

Come join us On Wednesday December 9, 2009 for Food, Fun, and, of course, some photography.
This will be a Potluck style dinner. Michele will bring a Ham and I will bring a Turkey. Everything else is up for grabs. Please list below what you will be bringing.
We need- Salads(potato, macaroni, green, etc.), Desserts, Rolls, and other side dishes.
Please also bring a wrapped White Elephant Gift but please do not exceed $10 in value. A dollar store item or two would be plenty.

After the dinner, we will have a short presentation on the best way to capture Christmas Lights and then we will head down to Temple Square to put these skills to use.

Join us for all or part but we hope you will stay for the entire thing.

6:30 - 8:00 will be dinner and presentation.
8:00 until whenever shooting at Temple Square.
The plan is to carpool or meet up at a location that is in the Free Fare Zone for TRAX and ride that over to Temple Square as a group. You may leave at anytime.

This will be held in North Salt Lake which is about a 10 minute drive to Temple Square.

Again, please RSVP and post what you will be bringing for the Potluck.

We hope ALL MEMBERS will join us.

I Had great time! It was great seeing old friends and making some new ones. All of the food was awesome and the white elephant gifts were very creative and entertaining.
I posted a recap in a blog. I kept the pics rather small to keep the blog trim so they are a tich soft.

For those that were unable to attend, I hope you can join us for the next event.

Had a blast last night. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I received so many great tips. Can't wait to download my photos to see how they turned out. Hey I stayed warm...my hand warmers really helped. Kudos to Doug and Michele...the food was yummy.

Great night! It was good seeing you guys again tonight! Wish I could have had a little bit more time to chat with some of you but that is how it always goes right? lol. My core temp is almost back up and I am excited to see some pics, so get to posting them!!! :)

Uggghhhh, I hope you guys had fun tonight. I really wanted to go and was planning on it until things got crazy tonight. I simply ran out of time. Hopefully I can catch the next one. Can't wait to see what everyone did!

A couple things I didn't mention, If you are going on the field trip portion, bring a tripod if you have one. Dress warm (See Kelly's suggestion below), make sure your battery is charged (bring an extra if you have it), and a remote control or knowledge of your self timer is helpful.

Here are some directions and a picture of the building that we are meeting in.

The address is 680 North 700 West North Salt Lake City. Note that this is NORTH Salt Lake and is NOT the North part of Salt Lake. If you are familiar with the area, it is right in front of Albertson's Distributuion Warehouse about 0.5 mile North of Companion Systems where we have met in the past. It is just above Redwood Road. Keep my number handy in case you get lost.

Miss you guys, so Ik'm coming. Bring some kind of seafood salad or really good Pasta, but prolly not homemade, sorry kids you should have eaten it all last year, made me feel like you could not get enough.
I'm thinking the best Family Favorite foods has will make it. I'm there to be entertained, so you best be entertaining, Doug always is.
I'm riding with someone else, just chill'n and taking the best pictures so watch Rob, Scott, and Rusty, all you competitive types. I'm bringing my polaroid SX70! See you Wed. Be there or be square.

It would be great to have you join us for all or part. The Christmas party will be a blast. Also, I forgot to mention on the website to wrap your white elephant gift. I will try and have something there to wrap your gift in case you don't get this in time. Please keep the gift inexpensive as it's just for fun.

Remember, we are having a competition to find the best shot from the field trip. This is from Summer's email - 'We will be having another competition this month centered around our Christmas party on December 9th. We want to see your best shot from that night. The winner will be chosen by the club again and will win a handy sensor cleaning kit. Please note that these are specific to camera type. The winner will get the specific size for their camera.'
