Photo Equiptment getting stolen from SLC Temple!

I just heard this story on channel 5. Skip Huntress and a few other photographers have had a ton camera's and camera gear stolen off them while or just after shooting on or around temple square in SLC. The story made it sound like it had happened to many photographers just recently and that the thief's are watching the shoots and planning the thefts.

Just a heads up if your shooting around or on temple square any time soon to watch your gear closely and take out your cards after shooting and don't leave them with the gear.

I think this has happened all around downtown area. There were two different systems on KSL that were saying had been stolen and to keep a watch out for these up for sale (1D Mark III with several lenses and a 5D MKII with several lenses and flashes) One had shot in memory grove and then went to a resturant to eat and the items were stolen and the other had done a shoot and went to pioneer park only to come back to his car broken into and stuff stolen. Both cases they had left the cards in the camera and the shoots went by by.
I would use alot of caution if you are shooting anywhere in downtown SLC. Either watch for people following you after the shoot if your going to stop off somewhere else or dont make any stop overs. Of course theirs the other option of pack a gun and shoot to Kill (ok maybe thats extreme/ shoot them in the knee or something).

hahaha I like the "other option". I usually pack more than just my camera when I'm doing shoots at night...
