Photographix

For Photographers of All Skill levels since 2005

First off I just want to say that this was very fun for me as well as a little nerving at the same time. I was kinda tough taking prints, judging and announcing awards all while being watched to people you may know or are in the club with for a while to come. But thank you all for making it fun for Michele and I to do this.

This was a first run for something like this so I apologize for how slow it went and how the judging was kinda rushed but it was a good learning experience and will be better and still way fun the next time!

As for the shots there were so many good ones and so many good ideas, you guys really thought outside the box here and it was fun to see the many different ideas and views come in.

Doug or I will post the photos along with the names shortly.

Rusty thanks for all the work that you put in, the scavenger hunt was fun! Michelle did a great job hosting and cooking as well (lots of good food). You both did great on the judging no worries there. I think it would be a great thing to do online every so often its a good way to stretch ourselves out of our comfort zones.

Thank you to all that worked so hard to put The BBQ on, we had a great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone. Rusty I think your idea of doing a scavenger hunt online would be great. It was wonderful to see the shots that everyone came up with.

Thanks for the recap Rusty. It was a lot of fun.
We had a great turn out, some awesome food and it was great visiting with everyone.
We had Curtis Parker, Photography Director Utah State Fair, give a presentation on fine art photography at the fair and also answer questions regarding the Photography division at the fair. I will scan the handout and post that in this forum post.

Also, I saw a lot of great work in the Photo Scavenger hunt. Everyone took the challenge and came back with some very creative shots. There were a lot of images. I will post a link to an album(s) with the images that were captured as well as a version of the scavenger hunt handout in case you want to try the challenge for yourself.

Thanks again to all who came. To Michele for her generous hosting of the event, her awesome BBQ skills, and the help with the scavenger hunt. Also, big thanks to Rusty for assembling and running the scavenger hunt (and arranging for all the prizes). He did great! and to Curtis for preparing and giving such a great presentation.

For those that were unable to make it, I hope to see you next year or at the Christmas party!

Here are the links to the albums of the images from the scavenger hunt. Remember, these are as-is straight out of camera and everyone only had 90 minutes to find and capture these shots. Great job guys.

Looks Like it was a blast! Wish I could've made it. There is some big time sick going around the house and didn't want to add it to anyone other homes.
