Last week the Utah Strobist group got together out near the Salt Lake Marina for a little off camera lighting event. The idea was to have models there for us to photograph and for everyone to share information with others ways/styles to use off camera lighting. Full set of pictures

We started at some railroad tracks. The tracks in this location are one of my favorite spots. I really like how the tracks fade off to the left in these photos. We also were shooting toward the sun so we had a nice rim light on the models. The lighting used were two nikon speedlights at camera left with a shoot through umbrella. A silver reflector was used on the second photo for lighting.

The second half of the evening was spent on the "beach" at the Great Salt Lake. A good friend and great photographer Nate brought a model and some snorkeling gear. Our intent was to get some stock image for our portfolios. We got started a bit later than I preferred but I'm fairly happy with the results. The lighting used was one Nikon speedlight with a shoot through umbrella on a voice activated light stand (Nate or Me).
