I am going for sure, I have taken off wednesday thru Monday. At the latest I am going up on Thursday and staying Thurs, Fri, Sat night and leave on sunday to come back. If I take the trailer I will leave SLC by 2-2:30am to get there either Wednesday at 9:00am or Thursday at 9:00am depending on the day I decide to leave. If I decide to stay the hotel option then I will be leaving early 5-6:00am Thursday to arrive early afternoon in the north end of the park.

I agree Rob, the guaranteed place to stay has its appeal. I am waiting to see how many people go and how they stack up with the hotel prior to making my final decision. Please let me know when they feel we should make reservations by in order to secure the rooms and maybe by then we will have a better head count. I still am drawn by the waking up and going to bed in the mix of things at slough creek, but would prefer if a spot could be reserved. We should somehow start a list of people/rooms that can be added to or changed.

@ Rob. I would love to join you guys if it works out that I can. I have been super busy and away from the house a lot this summer so we will see. It sounds like it is going to be a great trip!

Joe

thanks for checking into the camping... I am not excited about the first come thing, after hauling a Trailer up there, I think I am going to stay at the Travel Lodge in Gardiner, the price is not too bad, and the service it really good, I am waiting for an answer on the deadline to register

I am sure we will all have a Great time, where ever we end up staying

I AM EXCITED to GO !!!

I was originally planning on going to Yellowstone this month on my own, but things came up that hinder that, so I'll have to pass this time, and hope the opportunity comes around again when things work better.

Count me in. One single. When ever, where ever, how ever. Just let me know. I'd appreciate a ride for which I'd contribute to expenses.

Thanks everything Rob and Joe!
I hope to carpool and share a room. I will be traveling solo.

I talked with some individuals from the park today and received some information.

-Future reservations 307-344-7311
-Park services switchboard 307-344-7381
-Visitor Services 307-344-2109

If we stay in the north end of the park or in Gardiner we will have to Drive around the lake loop road due to a road closure on August 11th. (bridge, madison???)

Add 2 ½ hours to the drive from west Yellowstone entrance to slough creek campground or I would imagine a little more to Gardiner

The Gal was fairly optimistic that there would be campsites available that open up each day in the first come first serve campsites. However you would need to arrive at the earliest 8-9 and latest 10-11am in order to secure a campsite at Slough Creek or Pebble Creek. They fill up every day. There is also a mix of trailer spots and tent only spots withing the 28 spots for each site. $12.00 a night, pump water, vault bathroom. This is pretty much the skinny on the camping. All reservable campsites are already taken.within the park for those dates.

I am still leaning toward camping in Slough Creek with my tent trailer (that may change). That certainly doesn't and shouldn't sway anyone from a plan forward on the Hotel idea as well. If we end up with a single person that needs to share the Hotel cost I could be swayed into that route as well.

ROB; when did travlelodge indicate we should commit by in order to secure rooms?? We should have a solid list of who is going and by what means by this time so that part is at rest.

ALSO; If we all end up at the Hotel there may be some people that would like to carpool and cut the cost of gas for the individuals???.
