Since I have missed a few blog posts this year I have decided to post two in the same week. For some of you, you probably do this many before lunch everyday but for me, it's still something I am trying to fit into my schedule.
Last week I posted about a spook alley that my family puts on every year. It was originally set-up to help the kids in the transition from trick or treating to no trick or treating but over the years has just become a tradition. We are always looking for help so, if your up for it next year, let me know. There is Pizza, Doughnuts, and Apple Cider in it for you and it is also a lot of fun. It was great seeing those of you that made it out.
Our spook alley is in our back yard. The houses are sort of close were we live so I get light spill over from my neighbors house. We combat this with fog and start at 7PM but it can always be darker. I got to thinking that if I flashed them with a 400w/s studio light barn doored(new word warning) directly at them, that everything else would appear darker after that. So, I set up a monolight near the beginning of the path. I began thinking, hey I can also hook up my camera and trigger both of them with my pocket wizard. I had a tombstone that was about 8' in front of the camera and used that as my focusing point so that the camera could be on manual focus and I would just need to wait for the subject to enter the 'zone'. This worked out really well. And I got many keepers.
Here are some pics from that night. These are shot in heavy fog and a higher ISO with single light source facing the subject.
This guy needs a shave. This was our guillotine operator. In his job he's able to keep his head as everyone is loosing theirs.

This was our Werewolf. With the plaid, we thought he looked a lot like the teen wolf movie from the 80's. You can see our guillotine in the back ground.

We had a mountain man looking guy burying some poor soul back int he corner. It was spookier than you would imagine.

We had a Butcher Shop area with the butcher and the Butchee (second new word this post)

And some crazy clowns and a ghost girl
