I have been super busy lately and my Blog posts are falling one day behind every week. Eventually I will catch up with myself.
I have two of my children getting married this summer. Along with this is going through a bunch of old photos for the slideshow at the reception. As I go through the years and years of old photos I'm reminded of one of the reasons why I enjoy being a photographer. To capture the memories. To take you back to a different time and place. To help you remember people who have left us. Styles that have thankfully left us. And events that have changed our lives.
You never know what your next shot will be used for. The impact it will have or the memories that it will help someone relive. So, try and capture the memory, the emotion, and the feeling at the time. There is a time and place for posed and arranged shots(I take a bunch of those) but there is also a great need for candid's and shots just for you. In competition and commercial work, technicalities such as composition, exposure, and sharpness are critical but for candid's, go with your gut. Capture the moment.
